Tearing the Sorrow (Han) of Tradition with Beats. Welcome to the Cinematic Chosun Pop Label, ‘Hansori’ (hansori_kr).
Welcome! Hansori is a premier Fusion Gugak and Chosun Pop archive label. We take the invaluable texture of traditional Korean music and folk songs and completely reimagine them with explosive modern beats and overwhelming cinematic visuals.
What does Hansori do?
Our lives often feel like an endless journey through violent seas and deep, isolating mountains. Hansori exhumes the deep-rooted sorrow, resilience, and Han (the uniquely Korean emotion of unresolved grief and endurance) of our ancestors hidden within forgotten folk songs. We then resurrect these ancient spirits into trendy, heavy-hitting music and cinematic visuals that strike the hearts of modern generations.
Producing Long & Short-form Cinematic Chosun Pop: We fuse traditional masterpieces like ‘Han-O-Baek-Nyeon’ and ‘Kwaejina Ching Ching Nane’ with global standard cinematic aesthetics and hard-hitting beats.
Humanities Essays & Lyric Archiving: We dive deep into the historical background and lyrical meaning behind the music, providing an immersive, multidimensional listening experience.
